Bob Adams was the Head of Sport at local radio station Harchester Sound FM from the late 90's through early 00's. Alongside managing a team of reporters he continued his broadcasting duties with shows at the station, and covering the town's main source of sporting action - Harchester United Football Club. He can rely on rising star reporter Lucy Patcham to cover the club's 3rd Round Coca-Cola Cup clash with Chelsea, and for she to bring back the exclusive of Ron Atkinson's departure to Atlético Madrid.

Harchester's intercontinental striker, and biggest signing to date, Luis Amor Rodriguez, provides Bob with his fare share of buzzworthy stories, though he doesn't always come away well with them. Bob doesn't buy that Jerry wants to sell Luis to Athletic Bilbao because he isn't settled, and when Ian paints it that Luis has got some mystery medical condition which will stop any club coming in for him, it leads Bob on the trail of Rodriguez's alleged affair with Mrs Block. In Liverpool for the FA Cup Semi-Final v Charlton, Lynda warns Bob if he doesn't drop the story she will finish him with her best lawyers, but another story rears it's head with pics of Mica Hocknell with a bruised face, which Coates hints that Sean isn’t to blame as the press thought. Knowing Ian wants his manager's job back, Bob finds it hard to believe Luis is responsible for this as well.

With his studio shows, Bob hosts the faces of HUFC on the most burning topics, where the listeners get their views heard on what's affecting their club. From debates on whether Councillor Lal is refusing Jerry's plans for a new stadium on the basis of his son not making the grade in the youth team, to Lynda upon taking over being held responsible for the financial woes left by Jerry, and lets a caller ask whether her affair with Luis is hampering his recovery.

If Bob thought his dealings with previous managers Coates and Rodriguez were fairly tame, he was about to encounter a boss who wouldn't let him off no matter how unintended the criticism was! Departing for the UEFA Fourth Round Parma Leg, Ray gives an interview with Bob, and snaps when Bob pushes his red button, comparing Ray with Brian Kidd at Blackburn, warning him not to undermine his managerial skills again! The following season, and a 7-0 loss to Leeds, Ray puts himself on Bob's show, fiercely batting off the blame from irate fans that if the club is not in Europe next season he will resign.

When the manager's job is vacant once more in 2001-02, Monday is sent on Bob's show to field questions about when Harchester will be getting a new manager. Bob then poses his last on-screen question in whether Monday would be up for managing the club?
