What was the best thing about being in Dream Team?  Getting as close as possible, to fulfilling the dream of being a premiership footballer!

Were you a fan of Dream Team before you joined?  I didn't know the show before I joined.

What was the best thing about your character?  I play centre half when I play football, so I was delighted to be playing that position in the show. I love to head a ball and get stuck into opposing strikers.

What was the worst thing about your character?  The character spent five or six episodes at the beginning of the season apologising for having cheated on his wife.... I wanted to be involved in more soccer based storylines... fights on the field of play... sendings off.... goal scoring... bad challenges on opposing players... positive drugs tests.. injuries... anything but constantly saying "sorry" to his wife.I'm not sure the whole idea of "family" really fits into the "Dream Team" genre... It seems more about young good looking girls and guys, page three stunners, tabloid headlines etc.. etc.. A worthwhile experiment but not necessarily a success.

What did your friends and family think of the role?  They thoroughly enjoyed it.

Do you get recognised in the street as Matt Conlon?  From time to time, the character wasn't hugely popular, so I'd be lying if I said I was mobbed!

Are there any scenes that stick in your mind?  Loved - training montages, Hated – weak soppy apologetic storylines that went on for a number of episodes.

Did you have to research for the role?  Watched football from the age of three, read tabloid newspapers, trained and ran a lot.

Have you ever met any real footballers?  Cole, Yorke, Dalgleish, Owen... lots of others.

What football team do you support?  Liverpool... Grown up a season ticket holder, lived thirty minutes away by train, grew up in a time when they were extremely successful.... Come on Rafael Benitez!!!!! Bring back the Glory Days!!!!

Were you good at football at school?  A good steady centre half, not there to do the fancy stuff, but would block anything that resembled a goal attempt.

What was the hardest thing about training?  When training sessions were filmed for the show, it was very stop/start... as are all film sets, so we picked up niggling little injuries because we would train, get warm, stop, get cold, then go for another take... also we were told to keep off the playing surface as much as possible too???? How do you train without running on the pitch...hmmmm???

Is there any behing the scenes gossip you would like to share with us?  Nope!

What do you do in your free time?  Having a beer and a slice of pizza whilst hanging out with my wife and dog, watching a good old movie (Rear Window, To Kill A Mocking Bird, any old classic). That's my idea of a lovely relaxing time.

Where do you come from?  Chester, I now live in Brooklyn, New York City.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?  Who knows.....

What other jobs have you done appart from acting?  Truck Driver, Crane Operator, Bartender, Waiter, Salesman, Administrative Assistant, Motorcycle Courier... the list goes on...

Who is your ideal co-star?  Dame Judi Dench, Michael Gambon, Albert Finney, Tom Courtney.

If you could appear on a Reality TV show, which would it be?  It would be called .... "This is the last reality TV show on Earth"... And I would be paid to go and kill each and every competitor, producer, director, camera man or anyone involved in reality TV.... Until the world was irradicated of this menace to society.

Now that you have left Dream Team.... what have you been doing since your departure?  Brookside, Holby City, Beech Is Back (a spin off series from The Bill), Where The Heart Is, Gifted, Burn It,.... Wrote and directed a film called "Still My Brother"... Currently in a show here in New York City – I am playing the title role in "Macbeth" By William Shakespeare... check out these links:

If you got the opportunity to return to Dream Team either in a full or part time role, would you go back?  possibly

Do you think your character could have continued for another season?  If the storylines had moved away from the kitchen sink drama of he and his wife's domestic problems, and towards some football stuff then ...yes

Were you pleased with the way your character was portrayed or do you feel your character could have been portrayed better?  It was an experiment that didn't quite work, but I had a wonderful time in the shooting of the show... had the story been slightly different then maybe the character might have been more popular, my memories of my time during the shooting of Dream Team are very pleasant... and I had a great time.... Particularly when we went to Dublin!!!

Do you keep in touch with any of the cast you worked with?  Spoke to Mark Moraghan a few times after the show finished... (fellow Red) but other than that not really...

What other Dream Team character would you like to have played?  Matt Conlon... just with a few more ballsy or comedy storylines

Have you continued to watch Dream Team and keep up with events at Harchester since your departure?  I have actually.... they show Dream Team, on Foxsportsworld over here in the United States.... They are a few seasons behind ... but I do catch it from time to time.
