Shanice Erobobo
(Celena Cherry) 2004-2005
Duration: 335 (8.11) - 336 (8.12), 338 (8.14)
Shanice is a hard working mom who has single-handedly raised her
son Byron. She is a nurse in the radiology
department at Harchester General Hospital, and while the hours
keep her at work until the evening, Byron is occupied with gaining his place
in Harchester United's academy. Shanice gets a shock then, at Christmas 2004 when
the club's legendary striker Karl Fletcher, turns up on their doorstep.
Byron has long held onto a story of how Shanice went out with Fletch before
he was born, coming to believe Karl is the dad absent from his life, and
tells Shanice he told the club Fletch was his dad as it was the only way he
could get into the academy. Fletch is deeply suspicious of Shanice, and
accuses her of saying Byron is his in order to get his money. Shanice is
offended and tells Fletch to get out, before reminding him they did get
together at a nightclub twelve years previously.
At Fletch's
insistence, Byron is dropped from the academy, and Shanice repeats that she doesn't
want Karl's money, just his name and to let Byron back in. Byron is lonely at
home while Shanice works, and invites Lee to play Football Manager. When Shanice and
Lee are introduced there is immediately a spark between them, but a night out
with Fletch in London threatens to curtail
their relationship before it is even off the ground. When two girls he and
Fletch spent the night with turn up, Shanice is left feeling Lee is like
other footballers and will go off with other women.
Viv Wright has a mission to help Lee settle
down as it will keep his ability on the pitch at its best, and sets about
getting he and Shanice back together. Shanice arrives at Studs under the
impression the other wives are having a party, only to find it is a private date
for she and Lee. Shanice decides to hear Lee out, that he is serious about
making a go of things with her if she'd allow him the chance to prove it to
her. Lee wins Shanice back, and he is a part of she and Byron's lives until
losing his life in the Millennium Stadium coach explosion.
